Corsham – A Short History
Tucked away from the busy London to Bath road, Corsham comes as a delightful surprise to those visiting it for the first time. ‘The High Street there is one of the best left in England,’ wrote John Betjeman in 1975, and his compliment is still valid today. This short introduction to the town explores a history shaped by wool and stone. Fittingly, it has been hand-printed in a workshop adjoining the restored and extended Mansion House, built in the 1720s for a wealthy clothier.
